VonageDial is an easy-to-use application that allows you to dial
automatically from your Vonage (US) VOIP telephone from within Outlook. Without
having to read the tiny numbers, without even dialing the phone, you can call
anyone within your Outlook contact list in under two seconds with a
single mouse click!
VonageDial is quick, easy and intuitive: Within Microsoft Outlook, right-click on the contact you want to dial and select "Dial with Vonage".
The dialer screen will pop up, listing up to ten phone numbers associated with
that contact. Click
the number you want, and your Vonage phone will ring instantly!
Pick it up, and you'll hear the other end ringing - the number you just clicked.
It's that simple!
When you're finished with the dialer, just click "Finished" and it
goes away. Simple!
Configuration
The first time you run VonageDial after installing it, you will need to
configure your Vonage web login name and password. Open Outlook, select any contact,
right click it and select "Dial with Vonage". The dialer screen will pop
up, along with the configuration screen:
Type
the login name and password you normally use to log into the Vonage web site.
Don't worry, this information is stored securely using extremely powerful
encryption. And all communication with the Vonage system is done using 128-bit
encrypted SSL.
Click "OK" and you're ready to start dialing!
Your Number
Every time VonageDial is run, it connects to the Vonage system,
validates you using your login name and password, and downloads the list
of phone numbers associated with your account. For most people, they
only have one main number, and you don't need to worry about this. But
for businesses with several Vonage lines, you can pick the line you want
VonageDial to ring when you click a button. VonageDial will
remember this number next time you use it.
Add/Remove "Dial With Vonage"
If you are noticing that some contacts are not showing the "Dial with
Vonage" menu entry consistently when you right-click them, particularly
new contacts that were added since VonageDial was installed, it's
time to update your Outlook. Right click any contact, select "Dial with
Vonage", and click the "Configuration" button when the dialer comes up.
Then, just click the Add "Dial With Vonage" To Contacts button.
This can take anywhere from a few seconds to a minute, depending on how
many contacts you have. That's it, you're done!
Conversely, clicking the Remove "Dial With Vonage" From Contacts
button will remove the menu entries from your contacts. But not to
worry, they'll come back one by one if you need them.
Rest assured, if you uninstall VonageDial, it removes all traces of
the "Dial with Vonage" menu entries and returns your Outlook to normal.
Troubleshooting
Even though VonageDial appears simple, there are some complex things
happening in the background. Here's what to do if you encounter a
problem:
Login Error 101, Invalid or no response from Vonage server while
trying to log in
This indicates that VonageDial was completely unable to
contact the Vonage server. VonageDial attempts a standard SSL web
connection using port 443. Ensure your firewall is configured to
allow outbound connections from Outlook. Ensure you are connected to
the Internet!
Login Error 102, Invalid or no response from Vonage server while
trying to log in
This indicates that VonageDial received an invalid response
such as that generated from an active firewall. VonageDial
attempts a standard SSL web connection using port 443. Ensure your
firewall is configured to allow outbound connections from Outlook.
Ensure you are connected to the Internet!
Invalid Login, Username and/or Password specified rejected by
Vonage server
VonageDial was able to successfully contact the Vonage server,
however when it sent the login name and password you supplied, the
Vonage server responded by saying that either the login name and/or
the password were invalid. Ensure you are using the correct login
name and password. They are the same login name and password used to
log into the Vonage web page.
Vonage Error, Error reported by Vonage: xxxxxxx
VonageDial is functioning normally, however there is a problem
logging into the Vonage server. The "xxxxx" will be replaced with
whatever the Vonage server reports that the problem is.
I can't get "Dial with Vonage" to appear when I right-click a
contact
First left-click a contact to select it. Then right-click it to
pop up the menu. The menu should now include "Dial with Vonage". If
you are seeing this on more and more contacts, it's time to go to
the Configuration screen and click the Add "Dial With Vonage" To
Contacts button.
When I click "Dial with Vonage", it pops an email up instead
This can occur if VonageDial has become disabled from within
Outlook. To re-enable it, follow these steps:
In Outlook, click the Tools menu and select "Options"
Click on the "Others" tab, and press the "Advanced Options"
button.
Click the "COM Add-Ins..." button
Ensure that the checkmark next to "Vonage Outlook" is
checked
Click OK
Click OK
Click OK once more
If, after performing these steps, you are still getting emails
pop-ups instead of VonageDial, follow these steps:
Click Start/Run
In the "Open" box, type the following exactly as shown, and
click OK:
